Topic: Some light humor
Sometimes the boards get so serious and laughter is great medicine. I decided to bring some humor in. I hope this doesn't offend anyone

Have you ever wondered where the phrase, "You gotta be ****tin me" came from? Well, it just so happens to have originated through the Father of our Country.
Seriously. Way back, George Washington was crossing the Delaware River with his troops.
There were 33 in Washington's boat. It was extremely dark and storming furiously and the water was tossing them about. Finally, Washington grabbed Corporal Peters and stationed him at the front of the boat with a lantern.
He ordered him to keep swinging it so they could see where they were heading.
Corporal Peters, through the driving rain and cold, continued swinging the lantern back and forth, back and forth. Then a big gust of wind and wave hit and threw Corporal Peters and his lantern into the Delaware.
Washington and his troops searched for nearly an hour trying to find Corporal Peters, but to no avail. All of them felt terrible, for the corporal had been one of their favorites.
Sometime later, Washington and his troops landed on the other side, wet and totally exhausted.
He rallied the troops and told them they must go on. Another hour later, one of his men said, "General, I see lights ahead!"
They trudged towards the lights and came upon a huge house. What they didn't know was that this was a house of ill repute hidden in the forest to serve all who came. General Washington pounded on the door, his men crowding around him.
The door swung open, and much to his surprise stood a beautiful woman.
A huge smile came across her face to see so many men standing there.
Washington was the first to speak, "Madam, I'm General George Washington and these are my men. We're tired, wet, exhausted and desperately need warmth and comfort."
Again, the Madam looked at all the men standing there, and with a broad smile said, 'We can surely give you warmth and comfort. How many men do you have?" Washington replied, "Well, madam, there are 32 of us without Peters." And the Madam said, "You gotta be ****tin me!"

Topic: RE: To Bridesmaid or not to Bridesmaid. That is the question.
Hey Val,
Good to hear from you!
Bridesmaid or hostess....hmmmmm
Here is my take on it:
Bridesmaid- you will walk down the isle, stand with arms at your side, get some pictures taken, arms most likely at your side..go to the reception and put on a shawl or sweater when no picture line ups are around. That way your arms will be covered while reaching for this or that or dancing the night away etc...
Hostess- with the most-est! Make it a gala affair and enjoy the time for your friend. You and hubby make a striking pair and who wouldn't want to be greeted by you both!
Like I said this is just my opinion, take it for what you may

Hi Val!! I know how you feel. My sister asked me to be her maid of honor and I was HUGE (still am, lol) I initially thought no way am I going to be in a tight satin dress next to skinny -minis!! But I did it because I knew it was more important to be there for her than to care what anyone (including myself) thought about howI looked. I still am horrified by looking at the photos but Im glad I did it. Just my experience.
Good luck with whatever you decide. Your wedding photo is gorgeous by the way!!

I think it is so important to have a support group to attend. And you are doing the right thing by faithfully going. I so support your surgery and what you have accomplished. You are a good example for others to follow with your enthusiasm and committment to the rules. Keep up the good work.

I understand.
I was just thinking that "support" no matter what you had done(surgery) was a good thing. Your running more of a forum then support, I would guess. Yes, with some support mixed in. I wish you all luck.
Yes, I am in Fargo and we have support group meetings that I attend faithfully.

The group was started because in the other support groups the emphasis was on the gastric bypass and there was not much info or support for band patients.
At this time, the group is just for bandsters so there will be some specific band support and a place for questions and discussion about bands.
I am sorry it is exclusionary at this time but maybe in the future it could change.
Are there any groups that you can go to now? Please let me know. If there are not, maybe this could be brought up at our next meeting.
